Robert A. Brown

Bob Brown brings 30 years of experience in corporate leadership, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer and Member of Board of Directors for Goss International, Inc., a billion dollar global market leader in the manufacture of high value, custom engineered capital equipment employing over 4,000 people throughout the world. At Goss Mr. Brown led the company back to a market leadership position following the liquidation sale of its predecessor company, Goss Graphics Systems. Revenues were increased from $300 million to $1.1 billion by re-establishing and improving major customer relationships, commercializing new product developments, increasing focus on after-market business opportunities, and completing the acquisition and integration of Heidelberg Web Systems. The company achieved and maintained EBITDA of 3% to 5% of revenues during the rebuild process.

An engineer by training, Mr. Brown is experienced in several facets of managing large manufacturing firms. Prior to his tenure at Goss International, Mr. Brown was employed for 13 years at Heidelberg Web Systems, Inc. where he served as VP-Manufacturing, VP-Sales & Service and ultimately as President & CEO. Mr. Brown turned a $90 million dollar loss to a $10 million profit in two years at Heidelberg. The turnaround resulted in consecutive years of profitability.

In addition to serving on MerchantBanc’s board, Mr. Brown is an incorporator of Optima Bank & Trust and member of its board of directors. He has also served on other boards including the National Printing Equipment Supplier Association, the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, and The United Way. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
