Jack R. Hutton
Former CEO Universal Packaging, Inc.

 

Mr. Hutton was appointed to MerchantBanc, LLC’s Board of Managers in February, 2003. He holds a BBA Degree, with a major in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington

He began his professional career in 1963 in an accounting/administrative position with a small Texas-based folding carton manufacturer. In 1969 he formed American Data Systems, Inc., a data processing service bureau, which he sold in 1974. In that same year Mr. Hutton joined Universal Packaging Corporation, a New Hampshire based folding carton converter, recently acquired by Kraft Foods, as Vice President of Finance and Administration. Mr. Hutton was appointed President of Universal Packaging in 1980.

Four years later, he arranged the financing and led the management group in a leveraged buy-out of Universal Packaging from Dart and Kraft Inc. He expanded the business to a $92 million revenue level and sold it to NMC Holding Company, a publicly traded United Kingdom-based company in 1988. He continued as CEO and Chairman and as a member of the NMC Board.

Britton Group, also a publicly traded UK holding company, acquired NMC in 1993. Mr. Hutton continued to serve as CEO & Chairman of Universal and became a member of the Britton Group Board. He retired approximately one year later.

Mr. Hutton also serves as a Director of The Westervelt Company, Inc. a privately-owned company located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. With annual revenues of $750 million, The Westervelt Company, Inc. has extensive timberland and real estate holdings, and is involved in the manufacturing of packaging and paperboard products.
